Got to see a FamilySearch presentation in Croatia

I really enjoy researching to learn more about my ancestors so I was looking forward to attending the Zagreb Croatian Genealogy conference cohosted by the Croatia Genealogy Society and the Zagreb FamilySearch Center. I really enjoyed the one presentation given in English! Virginio Baptista, Area Manager for FamilySearch, shared the power of using your smart device to learn about your ancestors. While he was demonstrating the FamilyTree App he tried the "Relatives around me" search. For those not acquainted with this fun search- If two people are on the FamilySearch Tree app and have their family tree on FamilySearch and both click on "relatives around me" the app will see if and how the two people are related. When Brother Baptista tried demonstrating "relatives around me" I clicked the search too and so my name came up on the big screen. No, we weren't related.
One presentation was really unique. A member of our church presented on "How to find your descendants in the U.S." In the US we're often focused on crossing the ocean to find out ancestors in Europe and it was touching to hear that people here in Europe were searching for the descendants of their family member who'd left years ago. They are learning about immigration records and US census records etc.
One of our fun senior sisters we serve with has located and been reunited with a 93 year old  cousin of hers here in Croatia. It's a very touching story of how about 50 years ago her mother felt inspired to keep in touch with her husband's family that remained in Croatia. She would send packages and letters and so Sister Rampton had an old, old address in Croatia and with help was able to find her cousin that she had met once decades ago. The meeting of the two cousins was very emotional. Sister Rampton's nephew is coming to Croatia in April and they're going to visit the cousin together and do more family research. The meaning and power of family bonds transcends everything.
The last presentation was by a renowned historian and his research was on finding lost ancestors who were victims of the first world war.
