Senior Missionary conference in beautiful Slovenia

Twice a year all of the Senior couples in the Adriatic North Mission spend 21/2 days together to enjoy each other and be inspired by each other. This conference was in Bohinj, Slovenia a breathtaking area with a beautiful lake and mountains.

The couples serving in our mission are amazing! The couples always have multiple responsibilities- as Branch President and then responsibilities for Church Education programs for Teens and Young Adults, Stake YSA program, Welfare Services (Humanitarian), Auditor or in our case Public Affairs and nursing. Perry hasn't been called as the Branch President yet. Our public affairs duties for the 5 countries will have us travel some.

Each couple creates their mission somewhat based on their skills, talents and interests. Elder and Sister Decker in Sremska, Serbia use their talents. Elder Decker coaches a football team and Sister Decker gives piano lessons. Because of getting involved they are known in their town. Their branch has talent shows that build unity and provide fun. Sister Carey in Montenegro teaches the Sunday school for adults and primary for kids each Sunday. Three of these couples are Humanitarian missionaries working with other aid organizations to do projects that improve the lives of the poor.

I loved some of the beautiful advice given- "accentuate the positive" and "let them act upon this land as for years." This phrase is taken from the Doctrine and Covenants, see below. I like the idea that in life we should put our whole heart into where we are right now, even if it's only for a little season. We're really enjoying our mission service!

16 And I consecrate unto them this land for a little season, until I, the Lord, shall provide for them otherwise, and command them to go hence;

17 And the hour and the day is not given unto them, wherefore let them act upon this land as for years, and this shall turn unto them for their good.

Doctrine and Covenants 51:16-17
