We were so fortunate to be able to attend this conference bringing together the Public Affairs Directors for all of the 23 countries of Europe for training by our Area Public Affairs leaders. Soon after arriving at the Paris airport we met the Directors for Norway and Poland. They were so happy to see us because they were searching for others arriving and they could recognize us instantly! It was so fun to say we'd lived in Norway and I (Susan) had Polish heritage.
Soon after checking in at the hotel we walked to the beautiful Paris temple and enjoyed a temple session together with many of the national directors. The temple has beautiful stained glass windows with shades of blue and purple flowers and greenery. The temple grounds has a beautiful garden with a majestic Christus statue that is open to the public to enjoy.
Saturday was a full day of training and then in the evening we enjoyed a dinner river cruise down the Seine river seeing the Eifle tower lit up and the Notre Dame Cathedral. We made friends with Lars and Cecilia Paulsen from Denmark. The weather was nice and we spent a lot of time enjoying the sites from the deck.
Sunday we had 3 hours of training and a short Sacrament meeting with two thoughtful testimonies from sisters from Norway and Slovakia.
Since social media is so much of how people communicate now, it's important to share the gospel on social media sites. My favorite part of the conference was hearing each country director share their creative ways of helping the Church be more recognized in their countries. For instance, both Norway and Sweden had the "Book of Mormon Musical" in their capitals. In both countries at the end of each performance members and missionaries gave out copies of the Book of Mormon. In Norway the 4 closest wards all helped with this for a few weeks. They gave away 24,000 copies of The Book of Mormon. They had more than 400 articles, radio and TV interviews.
