Mission Temple Trip to Berne Switzerland

We were so happy to be able to go on the once a year Adriatic North Mission Temple trip to Berne Switzerland. Their usual temple, Frankfurt, is closed until October. Our members are very excited for the Budapest temple to be built in a few years. Instead of a 20 hour bus ride it will be 4-5 hours of travel. Seeing our members travel on a bus 24 hours and youth, young adults and adults love serving in the temple helps me to appreciate their good lives

We were able to accompany our terrific 18 year old, Ivan, to go through the temple for the first time before going on his mission in November. Ivan and I had spent time doing his family history so that he could do the temple work for his great-grandparents and others. He really loved participating in the temple work for his family.
It was so meaningful for us to see our native church leaders and members dressed in white serving their ancestors in the temple. Perry helped Ivan in the temple quite a bit and when I wasn't in the temple I helped cook meals for the youth, young adults and senior missionaries.
With the heatwave in Europe this summer it was a tender mercy that our weather this week was beautiful. In the evenings it cooled down to the 60's. Most everyone stayed in temple housing which was simple clean rooms with bunk beds and no air-conditioning.
On the last evening we took group photos for each district and a big group photo and family photos. It was really fun taking family photos!
Below are some of the great senior couples that planned the youth and young single adults activities and food for 5 days! Merritt and Heather Phillips, Jon and Becky Rands and Dean and Louise Fitches. Reed and Valerie Elder and John and Debra Benich were still in the temple.
