The next day we drove to Bohinj and took the tram up to Vogel Ski Resort and enjoyed the amazing view and took photos.
We stopped in beautiful Ljubljana, Slovenia for dinner and ice cream at Vigo's.
Bre and Alyssa were really interested in seeing Dubrovnik. It's a beautiful and unique city on the sea, built in the 1200s through the 1400s and surrounded by a 6,200-foot long castle wall that was never breached by a hostile army. We rented an apartment that was just a 20-minute walk downhill to the old city. On our full day here my pacer app stated that we walked 18,558 steps and a million stairs. We enjoyed the beautiful views from on top of the city walls. We went at dusk and it was beautiful. We enjoyed swimming too.
We flew back to Zagreb and drove to Rovinj on the Istrian coast. We rode bikes and swam and enjoyed ice cream.
There's a high-speed boat that departs Rovinj each morning at 7 am for a day trip to Venice. We didn't quite read the fine print and see that each way was almost 4 hours long. We saw as much as we could in 5 hours in Venice- a gondola ride, having pizza and just enjoying getting in and out of Venice by boat.
We had one last day in Rovinj with a short stop in Pula to visit the Roman Arena built 30 AD.
