Senior Conference in beautiful Fruška Gora Serbia

We really enjoyed our Senior Missionary Conference in the Fruška Gora National Park in Serbia. It was wonderful being with the other 30 senior missionaries that serve in our five different countries. We played games and counseled together on how to support our Church branches and our young missionaries.

Perry created a 40-minute power point presentation called "A Brief, Overly Simplistic History of Yugoslavia" complete with detailed maps. It's amazing how he covered 2,000 years in 40 minutes.

This forested mountain and the national park of Fruška Gora has sixteen medieval Serbian Orthodox monasteries. On Wednesday afternoon we hopped on a bus to tour three monasteries. We had a terrific guide who explained the history and significance of the monasteries.  Instead of being built high on a hill the monasteries were built hidden in valleys. The monasteries were a means of preserving and transmitting the Serbian culture and Orthodox religion down to the next generation when Serbia was ruled by the Ottomans or the Austrians. During some of their history villagers also were educated and received healthcare at the monastery.
