Rijeka Branch Family Carnival Activity

Carnival season is a big deal in our city of Rijeka. It takes place mid-January to March 3rd this year. Several towns have their own celebrations. We saw a few minutes of the Children's Carnival Parade on Saturday and loved the decorations put up for carnival. One of our English conversation group members recalled a branch carnival activity years ago so we thought we'd have a "Rijeka Family Carnival Activity." For some reason donuts go together with carnival so we bought donuts but we also made the traditional Croatian "Fritule" a mini fried donut ball drizzled with Nutella or powdered sugar/cinnamon. One of our great sisters helped me make them and they turned out beautifully. They're made with flour, eggs, and lots yogurt and baking powder. We also decorated masks and took photos!
