Plitvice Lakes with President and Sister Melonakos and Rijeka and Zadar missionaries

Early on January 8th we left Rijeka with our 4 missionaries- Sister Taylor, Sister Roberts, Elder Bird and Elder Stastny to meet up with the Zadar missionaries and President and Sister Melonakos (our mission president and his wife) at Plitvice Lakes.  We had dreamed of seeing Plitvice Lakes covered in snow and it was breathtaking. Plitvice Lakes is a series of 16 lakes that are build up of calcium and Travertine limestone and spill from one lake into the next.  There are thousands of waterfalls, big and small as the water cascades from one lake into another.

Most of us were dressed for the cold. During the winter months the upper lakes area is closed. But even in January the bus and the boat ride were operating.  Can you tell that Perry is the designated photographer?  He is never in the group photos!
