The Beautiful Lights at Christmas in Rijeka

Our city of Rijeka is the 3rd largest in Croatia. The center of the downtown is a wonderful large pedestrian street lined with shops. During December small white sheds are placed on the street with vendors selling meats, cheeses, honey, nuts and Christmas items. There was a Santa train for families and a super huge live Christmas tree.
     Trsat is a neighborhood near us in the city of Rijeka. It has its own castle which we enjoy visiting. It's pretty unbelievable but they strung beautiful cream and sparkling white lights around the entire main turret. The courtyard was also decorated. Lots of families came to see the lights and buy hot chocolate and fried mini donuts covered in Nutella. There was a temporary small skating rink and music playing.  A Nativity scene was also on display inside the lower castle. We made sure all of our missionaries got to experience Trsat.
