Special Kresimir Čošić Event in Zagreb

Krešimir Ćosić's Faith in Jesus Christ and His Life Were One
Krešimir Ćosić, an international basketball legend from Croatia would have been 70 in November.    Krešimir’s life was honored on Sunday, but not for a life of basketball achievements, but for his life as a courageous and genuine disciple of Jesus Christ.  Basketball teammates, political leaders from Croatia and the U.S. joined with Krešimir’s beloved family in the Zagreb chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a member.

A film was premiered, “Faith and Life as One” that described his dramatic change from an atheist to a Christian and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  His accomplishments are well known in basketball and as a Deputy Ambassador for Croatia during the war.  Those people most close to him, however, know of his spiritual journey from an atheist to a courageous Christian.  As the film describes, Krešimir was a beacon of “light on a hill” to all and a courageous follower of Christ in a communist era when it was dangerous to be a Christian.

Krešimir Ćosić had the ability to bring together people of different cultures, religions and political parties.
“We are gathered here from many different cultures, religions and political parties, but we are as one.  That is the legacy of Krešimer” according to Elder De Feo, Europe Area leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Elder De Feo addressed a group of political leaders, basketball teammates of Krešimir, and the Ćosić family on Sunday as they honored Krešimir who would have been 70 this coming month.  “As I see all of you gathered together from all cultures and religions I realize that Krešimir is still bringing people together.”

As part of our public affairs responsibility on our mission, Perry wrote these two short paragraphs. We then send these to our terrific young sister missionaries, Sister Campbell and Sister Livingston, who send it to local translators who translate it into the three languages of our mission and they are posted on the Church Facebook pages for each country.
