Visiting Zadar

We had a really enjoyable visit to the city of Zadar on the Adriatic Sea. We got up early to drive 2 1/2 hours and be on time for church. We were able to talk with several members about their favorite Book of Mormon scripture and take their photos. We are preparing Social Media posts on The Book of Mormon and have an approach that is unique and has been shared across the European countries.

In addition, our church in the Europe area is preparing for a 21-day Book of Mormon Challenge starting September 1st. They have prepared a pamphlet that has a scripture and ponder question for 21 days. We're trying to get some local content of great members sharing their favorite scripture and their feelings about it.

We had a fun evening with our friends the Elders who serve in Zadar (Elder and Sister Elder).  On Monday night we went to the old town area of Zadar.  We walked down along the Sea to hear the Sea Organ--an organ that is played by the ebb and flow of the ocean waves. It was a choppy sea and so the organ sounds were really noticeable. Here's a description of the Sea Organ from the Zadar Tourist Board:

The organ looks like a series of broad steps leading down into the water, but there´s actually very clever engineering hiding under the surface. The lower steps allow water and air to flow in. That water and air is then funneled into resonant chambers under the steps, and pushed out through the channels on the upper stairs, seen here. These cause the undulating, chime-like notes to be produced. Because the sea is always shifting and changing, the sea organ never sounds exactly the same twice. Each sound you hear is completely unique.

Another unique site is "the Greeting to the Sun" a solar powered circle 22 meters in diameter that was designed by the same architect who designed the Sea Organ.
