It is a special time to be in Croatia! Everyone here is so excited about the World Cup! We see little kids wearing Croatia Soccer shirts, and the red and white checks of Croatia's flag on car side mirrors, car hoods, etc. We missed the first few games because we couldn't get local Croatian channels on our TV. We've really enjoyed watching two of the games. We're a little tired the next morning! When the game ended on a late Saturday night a couple of our members arrived late to church after celebrating!
It is so impressive that Croatia with only 4 million people did so well against Germany, Argentina, England and Russia. Even though Croatia lost to France, the entire country is so proud of the team making it to the semi-finals. There was a huge celebration in Zagreb when they arrived home. One of our members said 20 years ago Croatia lost to France in the quarter finals, this time Croatia lost to France in the semi-finals so in 20 years Croatia will win against France!
